PREGNANT BUTCH is back in NYC at Bluestockings Bookstore on Wednesday, April 23. Perhaps you skimmed the pictures in someone else’s bathroom copy of PB? Now you owe it to yourself to hear the mighty audio version!
WED. APRIL 23, 7 PM
172 Allen Street, New York, NY 10002
Let me just say that, as an American, few things are as entertaining as reading one’s words translated into British English, as in:
Summers “…eschewed traditional maternity wear for voluminous trousers, braces and dungarees.”
On May 1 (4-6 PM) I will be giving a talk at the University of Chicago to accompany the opening of an exhibit of original bristol board art from Pregnant Butch. The exhibit is being presented by the Artists’ Salon of the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality, Project Director, Hillary Chute. The exhibit will be up for three weeks and is open to the public.
Try saying this five times fast: Bitch says Pregnant Butch!
I’ll be in Chicago on Wednesday, April 30, reading from Pregnant Butch at the great, never-did-try-to-disavow-feminism bookstore Women & Children First, at 5233 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL 60640, at 7:30 pm. -A.K.
While I’m in LA, I will be reading at homo-centric, LA’s only ongoing LGBTQI reading series, curated and hosted by Hank Henderson at Stories Books, 1716 West Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90026 – on April 17 – at 7:30 pm.
Also reading will be Bonnie Kaplan and Charles Jensen, both contributors to the anthology This Assignment is So Gay: lgbtiq Poets on the Art of Teaching (Sibling Rivalry), a Lambda Literary Finalist for best lgbt anthology.
